What is Picnic for Tea jewellery made from? Is it Vegan friendly?

Picnic for Tea jewellery is sculpted from high quality polymer clay. I only use vegan friendly manufacturers for my clay. Earring posts and findings are made from surgical steel, perfect for sensitive ears!

How do I care for my Picnic for Tea jewellery?

Although we try to create every piece to be as strong and durable as possible, please take care when handling your jewellery. We recommend to clean earring posts regularly and all other jewellery can be wiped with a damp cloth. Please do not submerge your jewellery in water - we can't guarantee this won't affect it!

What is Acrylic Resin?
Acrylic Resin, also known as Eco-resin, is a water based composite material. It is made from a Gypsum - a mineral created from a sedimentary rock - and a water-based resin. It contains no solvents or VOC's, is safe for me to work with, is lightweight yet strong and is fire-resistant.

What makes Acrylic Resin eco-friendly?
Although the acrylic resin does contain plastic, the manufacturing methods behind the Acrylic Resin I use mean that it is produced sustainably. The gypsum component is a naturally occurring mineral that is found in abundance and therefore a much greener alternative to things like fibreglass and concrete. Although the plastic component means that the pieces will not break down over time, the high durability of this material means that pieces are made to last.

How do I care for my Picnic for Tea Acrylic Resin piece?
All of my items made from Acrylic Resin have been sealed and coated with a wax polish. Acrylic Resin is not waterproof, but this sealing process will make it splash-proof. If you need to clean your piece, simply wipe with a damp cloth. Take care to only use dripless candles with your Acrylic Resin candle holders as the ingredients in candles can vary and oils may leech into your candle holder if wax drips are not immediately cleaned. Over time the wax layer may wear away - if you would like to re-wax your piece you can treat it with a simple stone wax from the hardware store. Acrylic Resin is not food safe and it should not be used to serve food that is not individually wrapped.

Please note that air bubbles are normal for acrylic resin pieces, a few bubbles just add character to your piece! Colours may vary depending on your screen - I have photographed acrylic resin pieces in different lighting to reflect how colours can look in natural and synthetic lighting.
